In a significant move aimed at boosting employee welfare, Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Limited (OHPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Union Bank of India (UBI) to introduce customised “Union Super Salary Accounts” for its workforce.

The agreement, formalised at Lokseva Bhawan, promises a suite of financial and insurance perks designed to provide security and convenience to OHPC employees.

The MoU was signed in the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy. Other key attendees included Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Energy Department and CMD of OHPC; Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, OAS(SAG), Additional Secretary to Govt, Energy Department; Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), OHPC; Sandeep Patnaik, Director (HR), OHPC; Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Director (Operation), OHPC; and Harekrushna Das, General Manager & Zonal Head, UBI. The document was signed by Gagan Bihari Moharana, SGM (Finance) on behalf of OHPC, and N. Barik, DGM representing UBI, alongside senior officers from both organisations.

Under the terms of the MoU, every OHPC employee will benefit from comprehensive coverage, including personal accident insurance up to Rs 1.20 crore and an additional term life insurance of Rs 20 lakh. The package also features an annual hospital cash benefit of Rs 30,000. Employees will receive a RuPay Select Debit Card linked to zero-balance savings accounts, offering extra accidental insurance of Rs 15 lakh. Adding to the appeal, the card includes annual lifestyle benefits valued at Rs 75,000 at no extra cost, such as complimentary airport lounge access, quarterly free health check-ups, and fee-free transactions.

This initiative underscores OHPC’s commitment to employee well-being, blending financial security with everyday perks. Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Principal Secy Vishal Kumar Dev praised the collaboration, highlighting its role in enhancing the welfare of OHPC’s dedicated staff.

The MoU is expected to set a benchmark for public sector undertakings in Odisha, promoting similar employee-centric banking solutions across the state. With these enhancements, OHPC aims to attract and retain top talent while ensuring its team remains financially resilient.
