Cockroaches have unexpectedly become a major talking point in Delhi politics.
On one hand, the newly formed “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP) has hit the streets demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
On the other, a Delhi Ramlila committee has announced plans to burn a 30-foot cockroach effigy alongside Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad to promote cleanliness.
Organised by the Shri Keshav Ramlila Committee in Pitampura, committee president and BJP MLA Ashok Goel clarified that the effigy has no political motives, aiming instead to symbolise filth under the ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Swachh Delhi’ campaigns.
Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has called for a protest program named ‘Lahara Do Tiranga’ at Connaught Place’s Central Park, protesting alleged irregularities in voter list revisions. Earlier, police detained CJP members, leading to judicial custody for some leaders.
