BMC to ramp up testing sites in city market areas from Jun 6

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Sanjay Singh on Friday said that the civic body will start testing people for COVID in the market area under its special drive.

Speaking in a presser here, Singh said,” There is no shortage of oxygen has been witnessed in Bhubaneswar yet and steps are being taken by the govt so that the city won’t face it in the future. BMC will provide oxygen concentrators to Covid-19 patients at their doorsteps.”

“Special arrangements have been made by the BMC to stop spreading of the virus. From tomorrow, mobile vans will be sent to the market area and RT-PCR and Antigen tests will be conducted over there,” he said.

“The state capital has been witnessing a gradual fall in the daily infection count with a slight drop in the test positivity rate. I request everyone to follow COVID guidelines and adhere to lockdown rules imposed by the government,” he briefed.

“The government has provided 100 oxygen concentrators to the BMC. So the residents of Bhubaneswar now can get oxygen concentrators by booking through the app. The administration will brief the public about the usage of the app and locals of Bhubaneswar will be administered with the second dose of vaccine in a timely manner,” he added.

“The Vaccination drive under progress smoothly for 18-44 age group, including Drive-In Vaccination for 45+ age group. We have already administered 8,57,330 doses by June 4 under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation,” he further added.
