Phulnakhara: Three bike-borne miscreants allegedly looted Rs 2 lakh from father-son duo, identified to be grocery store owners, after attacking him with a sharp weapon at Phulnakhara-Niyali road yesterday.
The victim has been identified as Trilochan Sahu and his son Arun of Konark area in Puri district.
Reportedly, the incident took place at around 11 am on Thursday while the duo was heading towards Malgodown situated at Cuttack in their pickup van.
Meanwhile, the duo spotted the miscreants tailing them.
Soon the miscreants intercepted the vehicle at Phulnakhara-Niyali road and one of the assailants attacked Arun with a machet. On hearing, Arun’s scream, locals rushed to rescue and managed to nab one of the miscreants. However, two miscreants decamped with Rs 2 lakh. Later, the local handed over the accused person to the police.
Besides, Sadar police detained the accused person for questioning and launched a manhunt for the absconding miscreants.
