Following back-to-back Indian Premier League triumphs with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has expressed his strong desire to return to the Indian national team.
The 36-year-old seamer, who last played for India in November 2022, delivered exceptional performances, claiming 17 wickets in IPL 2025 and following it up with an impressive 28 wickets in 2026.
Reflecting on his international absence during an interview on Jatin Sapru’s YouTube channel, Kumar admitted he initially expected a recall after receiving a promising call regarding upcoming series.
Although that opportunity did not materialise, he acknowledged making peace with the situation, crediting his family for helping him cope with the setback.
“I’m not playing to prove anything, but I’d be happy to play for India again,” Kumar said.
With 294 wickets in 229 international matches, the experienced pacer remains focused on performing well.
