Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to approve the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack metro rail project in a cabinet meeting on Thursday at Lok Seva Bhawan, sources said.

The cabinet meeting is scheduled for 5.45 pm today, the sources added.

The metro train will initially connect Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport with Trisulia, a town close to Cuttack. The path will ostensibly pass by famous sites, including Nandankanan, Patia, and Vani Vihar.

As the project starts close to Subash Bose Setu, commuters from CTC can visit important Bhubaneswar locations. Khurda and Puri will eventually be reached by the metro.

The Metro Rail project was brought up in a high-level meeting in February of this year, which was presided over by Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena. The concept aims to provide the general population with an economical and practical form of transportation while easing traffic congestion.
