A daycare centre operating inside Capgemini’s Bengaluru campus has been temporarily closed after videos allegedly showing toddlers being abused by caregivers surfaced online. The incident has raised serious concerns about child safety at workplace childcare facilities.

Capgemini confirmed that it has suspended operations at the daycare while authorities investigate the allegations. The company said the health, safety, and well-being of employees and their families remain its highest priority and added that it is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Five Caregivers Booked in Bengaluru Daycare Abuse Case

Police have registered a case against five women employed as caregivers at the childcare facility located inside the IT company’s campus in Bengaluru’s Brookefield area.

The daycare serves employees who leave their young children in the facility during working hours.

The investigation began after videos allegedly showing toddlers being mistreated circulated on WhatsApp and were later reported to the Child Helpline.

Investigators are examining the authenticity of the videos, establishing the timeline of the incidents, and identifying whether any other children were affected.

Police have not made any arrests so far. The investigation remains ongoing.

Toddlers Allegedly Subjected to Physical and Emotional Abuse

According to the police complaint, children between two and three years old were allegedly subjected to repeated physical and emotional abuse.

Officials said the videos appear to show caregivers physically assaulting toddlers, threatening them, and using intimidation to silence them.

The complaint further alleges that some children were:

  • Placed inside a front-loading washing machine.
  • Locked inside bathrooms.
  • Forced to sit on a western-style toilet.
  • Sprayed with water using a toilet jet spray.
  • Threatened whenever they cried or became restless.

Police are verifying every allegation as part of the ongoing investigation.

Capgemini Responds to the Allegations

Following the emergence of the videos, Capgemini announced the temporary closure of the daycare centre.

In a statement, the company said:

“Capgemini’s foremost priority is the health, safety and well-being of its employees and their family members. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and assisting them in establishing the facts. As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing the Bengaluru campus daycare facility.”

The company has not announced when the facility will reopen.

Police Continue Investigation

Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

Investigators are questioning the accused caregivers, reviewing digital evidence, and recording witness statements to establish the full sequence of events.

Officials have also appealed to anyone with relevant information to cooperate with the investigation.

Child Safety Under Fresh Spotlight

The Bengaluru daycare abuse case has reignited concerns about safety standards at workplace childcare centres across India.

Experts say regular inspections, stronger monitoring systems, proper caregiver training, and strict compliance with child protection guidelines are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of young children.

Authorities are expected to decide on further legal action once the investigation is complete.
