Puri: The stalemate between Srimandir Dattamohapatra servitors and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) over Banakalagi ritual ended today after the Srimandir Managing committee fixed Wednesday as the day of performing the facial of the Trinity.
Talking to reporters, Puri Collector Samarth Verma said the managing committee has decided to perform the ritual only on Wednesday. However, in special occasion, the ritual can be held on Thursday in case of more rituals are to be performed on Wednesday, he added.
The Banakalagi will usually be performed twice a month, Verma said.
The temple administration can decide on the Banaklagi ritual if it is to be held on Thursday in exceptional case.
The holy faces of the trinity are fading day by day in absence of the regular Banakalagi rituals. The managing committee has decided to perform the ritual on July 9.
