Tokyo: Avani Lekhara scripted history as she bagged her second medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. The 19-year-old who had earlier won the gold medal in R-2 women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1, claimed a bronze medal in R8 50m rifle 3P SH1 event.
She earned a total score of 445.9 points.
Avani is the only Indian woman to win two medals in Paralympics. Also she is only the fourth Indian after Joginder Singh Bedi, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Devendra Jhajharia to win multiple medals at the Paralympics.
China’s Zhang C won gold with a total score of 457. 9 with a new paralympic record, Natascha Hiltrop of Germany wins silver with a total score of 457.1.
