In a significant diplomatic engagement, Consul General of Australia Bernad Lynch paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo at Lok Seva Bhawan here today.
The meeting centred on potential collaboration in renewable energy development and the agriculture sector, highlighting Odisha’s impressive strides in these areas.
Consul General Lynch commended the Odisha government’s initiatives in the energy and agriculture sectors. He noted that Odisha has surpassed the national average growth rate in agriculture and has made remarkable progress in strengthening its power infrastructure through advanced technologies. These efforts have significantly enhanced the state’s power generation and transmission capacities, positioning Odisha for a sustainable and secure energy future.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo highlighted Odisha’s recent initiatives in renewable energy production and usage. He informed the Consul General that the state has implemented multiple projects and formulated supportive policies to harness its abundant natural resources, further accelerating renewable energy growth.
In the agriculture sector, Singh Deo emphasised the state’s achievement of bumper production, which has substantially increased farmers’ incomes and set new benchmarks.
The discussions underscored the mutual interest in deepening Australia-India-Odisha relations, particularly through cooperation in clean energy technologies and sustainable agricultural practices.
Both sides expressed optimism that this meeting would pave the way for enhanced bilateral partnerships, aligning with the vision of Viksit Odisha as part of Viksit Bharat.
