Attack On Janla PCR Personnel; One Held, Two Still At Large

Janla: A youth has been arrested today on charges of attacking the PCR personnel of Janla Police Out Post under Jatni police station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The arrested youth, identified as Chandan Paikaray (33), a native of Gangapada village, has been forwarded to the court, the police said.

According to reports, at around 7.30 pm on 20th December, an accident took place between a  scooter and a car near Gangapada Chowk on National Highway-16 and both the vehicles were left in the middle of the road.

On intimation, personnel of PCR 32 of Janla Police Out Post reached the mishap site to take stock of the situation. While the cops were trying to clear the blockade, three youths of Gangapada village reached the spot and attacked the police personnel. Before fleeing from the spot, the youths hurled abuses on the cops and threatened them not to remove the wrecked vehicles from the road.

Following this, Janla Police Out Post registered a case (685/21) under Sections 334/294/353/323/506 of the IPC. Though police managed to arrest one of the accused, Chandan, two other are still on the run.

Police said that efforts are underway to nab the other absconding accused persons.
