In a major anti-corruption development in Odisha, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe in connection with a land dispute case in Kendrapara district.
The accused, identified as Prashant Pradhan of Rajkanika Police Station, was apprehended by the vigilance team while reportedly accepting ₹2,000 from a complainant.
According to officials, the ASI had allegedly demanded the bribe to facilitate action in a land-related dispute. Acting on a formal complaint, vigilance authorities laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed at the designated location. The tainted money was recovered from his possession during the operation. Following the arrest, the accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine whether he was involved in similar corrupt practices.
This incident underscores ongoing concerns about corruption at the grassroots level and highlights the role of vigilance agencies in maintaining accountability within the system.
