In a humanitarian development, two Nepali girls rescued from West Bengal have been safely processed for repatriation, with one of them already returning to her home country from Bhubaneswar.

The repatriation was carried out after completing all necessary legal and administrative procedures in coordination with the Nepal Embassy and local authorities.

According to official sources, a two-member team from the Nepal Embassy visited the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to initiate and oversee the repatriation process. The rescued girl was presented before the CWC with police assistance, and following the completion of all formalities, she was allowed to return to Nepal on Monday.

The case highlights a coordinated rescue effort led by an Odia youth, who initially rescued the girl from West Bengal and informed the Nepal Embassy to ensure her safe return. Demonstrating continued commitment, the same individual later rescued another Nepali girl from similar circumstances and brought both to Odisha for protection and legal processing.

As per established child protection protocols, the girls were placed under the care of authorities following directives from the Child Welfare Committee. They were accommodated in a shelter home to ensure their safety, well-being, and proper rehabilitation during the interim period.

Officials emphasized that such cross-border rescue and repatriation efforts require close coordination between multiple agencies, including law enforcement, child welfare bodies, and diplomatic missions. The successful return of one of the girls marks a positive step in safeguarding vulnerable individuals and ensuring their rights and security.

Authorities continue to monitor the case and are facilitating the safe return of the second rescued girl, following due legal procedures.
