The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the 14th position among medical colleges in India, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 released by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
This marks a dramatic rise from its 31st position in 2021 and 15th in 2024, reflecting the institute’s unwavering commitment to excellence in medical education, research, and healthcare delivery. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has also earned a place among the top 100 institutions in the country in the “Overall” category—an honor held by only a few medical colleges nationwide.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director & CEO, the institute has made significant strides in infrastructure, patient care, academic innovation, and institutional perception. Dr. Biswas praised the collective efforts of faculty, staff, and students, stating, “This recognition is the result of the dedication and hard work of our entire AIIMS Bhubaneswar family.”
The NIRF rankings are based on five key parameters: Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and Peer Perception (PP). AIIMS Bhubaneswar scored an impressive 64.31 out of 100.
Adding to its accolades, the institute was ranked 12th in the India Today-MDRA Survey of Best Medical Colleges and 2nd among emerging medical institutions in India.
A celebratory event was held at the campus, attended by dignitaries including Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena, Lt. Col. Abhijit Sarkar, Dr. Sudiptra Ranjan Singh, Dr. Binod Kumar Patro, Dr. Debapriya Bandyopadhyay, Dr. Sipra Rout, Jagdish Sahu, and Raj Kishore Dash.
