In a significant move to strengthen transparency and coordination in Odisha’s power sector, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Friday launched the Odisha Grid Insight (OGrI) Portal at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. The portal, developed by the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), offers a unified digital view of the State’s transmission network.

The OGrI Portal, accessible at ogri.optcl.co.in, provides detailed technical and geographical information on all 201 grid substations across Odisha, making it a key digital tool for power utilities, investors, and industrial stakeholders.

Single Digital Window for Transmission Network Data

Designed to enhance system planning and operational efficiency, the portal enables DISCOMs and power generation companies to access critical data, including:

  • Installed transformation capacity

  • Existing load and available margins

  • Spare bay availability

  • Power take-off arrangements

With the integration of the SANJOG application, the OGrI Portal will serve as a single, unified platform for DISCOMs to process and avail new 33 kV power connections in a more transparent and informed manner.

Boost to Ease of Doing Business and Investment

Beyond utility operations, the portal is expected to support investment decisions by providing authentic, real-time information on power availability across different locations in the State. This will help industrial units and investors plan projects more efficiently.

With this initiative, Odisha becomes the second state after Rajasthan to offer public access to detailed grid substation and bay availability data.

Focus on Digital Governance and System Efficiency

Speaking at the launch, Singh Deo said the OGrI Portal reflects the State Government’s focus on transparency, system efficiency, and ease of doing business. He added that digital platforms like OGrI will improve coordination among transmission, generation, and distribution utilities, contributing to reliable power supply and long-term growth of Odisha’s energy sector.

Officials Present at the Launch

The event was attended by Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of OPTCL, along with senior officials of the corporation.
