During the Odisha Assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida revealed that 11,337 child missing cases have been registered across the state since 2024.

Of these, 8,562 children have been successfully rescued.

As of now, 2,975 children remain untraced, prompting renewed focus on coordinated rescue efforts. Parida shared this data while responding to a question in the House, highlighting the role of District Child Protection Units (DCPUs) in tracking and recovering missing children.

Among all districts, Khordha reported the highest number of cases with 785 registered, out of which 576 children were rescued. Balasore followed with 683 cases, but only 114 children recovered.

The Deputy CM emphasised that the government continues to strengthen child protection mechanisms, improve inter-agency coordination, and ensure timely intervention. She reiterated the importance of community awareness and vigilance in preventing child trafficking and disappearance.
