The Excise Department seized a massive haul of 400 kg of ganja from a courier office in Bhawanipatna, located in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
The contraband was cleverly packed inside 32 fish boxes and was in the process of being transported to Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the illicit consignment was booked for delivery to an address in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Investigators were stunned to discover that the destination address belonged to an Additional District and Sessions Judge.
Intriguingly, neither the name of the judge nor any details of the sender were mentioned on the parcel labels. The misuse of a judicial officer’s official residential or office address has raised major security and legal questions, leaving enforcement agencies baffled over the audacity of the syndicate operating the racket.
Authorities are investigating how the contraband was booked through a courier, checking logs, CCTV, and digital trails to find the smugglers and why a judge’s address was used.
