Ranbir Kapoor Confirms Love & War Postponed; Film to Avoid Clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has been postponed. The actor shared the update during a recent Instagram Live session, putting an end to weeks of speculation about the film’s release date.

While Ranbir did not announce a fresh release date, he stated that the film will arrive after his much-anticipated project Ramayana Part One, which is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026.

Release Timeline Clarified

When Love & War was first announced, it was slated for a Christmas 2025 release. The film was later pushed to March 20, 2026. Earlier reports had suggested a possible shift to 2027 due to pending shoot schedules and visual effects work.

However, sources close to the production maintain that the film remains on track for a 2026 release. Ranbir’s latest statement indicates that the makers are now targeting a post-October 2026 window, potentially December, subject to final scheduling.

Star-Studded Cast

Love & War features an ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal alongside Ranbir Kapoor. The film marks another collaboration between Bhansali and his leading actors, generating strong anticipation among audiences.

According to insiders, major sequences have already been filmed, and a song sequence was recently completed. Post-production work is currently underway.

Avoiding a Major Box Office Clash

By moving its release to a later window, Love & War will avoid clashing with two high-profile releases scheduled for March 19 — Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, and Toxic, headlined by Yash.

The March 19 weekend was initially expected to witness a multi-film box office battle. However, with Love & War shifting and other projects adjusting their timelines, the weekend is now set for a direct face-off between Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic.

What Lies Ahead

With Ramayana Part One arriving first in October 2026, Ranbir Kapoor will have two major releases lined up within months of each other. Industry observers note that spacing out releases allows films to maximize box office potential and audience attention.

An official release date for Love & War is expected to be announced in the coming months.
