India crashed out of the Uber Cup Finals after a 0–5 defeat to China in their final Group A tie in Horsens, Denmark.
PV Sindhu came close to a statement win but squandered an 18–12 lead in the decider against Wang Zhiyi, losing 16–21, 21–19, 19–21. Her loss set the tone for China’s clean sweep.
Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra failed to match world No. 1 pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning, going down 11–21, 8–21. Isharani Baruah fought hard against Tokyo Olympic champion Chen Yufei but missed crucial points, losing 22–20, 21–13. That defeat gave China an unassailable 3–0 lead.
Treesa Jolly and Kavipriya Selvam showed resistance in doubles but fell 10–21, 21–12, 19–21 to Luo Xu Min and Zhang Shu Xian. Devika Sihag, who recently won her maiden Super 300 title, started strong but lost rhythm, going down 21–19, 17–21, 10–21 to Xu Wen Jing.
India had earlier lost 2–3 to Denmark and beaten Ukraine 4–1. China, the most successful Uber Cup team with 16 titles, proved too strong once again. Sindhu’s missed opportunity against Wang highlighted India’s inability to convert chances.
India’s campaign ended with one win and two defeats in Group A. All eyes now shift to the men’s team, who face China in the Thomas Cup group decider after sealing a quarterfinal spot with a 5–0 win over Australia.
