A sorrowful incident struck Ichhapur village under Athagarh block when two brothers drowned while bathing in the Sapua river.
According to reports, Divya Ranjan Samal (27) slipped into deep waters while bathing. His elder brother Soumya Ranjan Samal (35) immediately tried to rescue him but was swept away by the strong current.
Local villagers managed to recover Divya Ranjan’s body, but Soumya Ranjan remains missing. The Fire Services department has joined the search operation to trace him.
The tragedy has cast a pall of grief across the locality, with residents mourning the sudden loss and anxiously awaiting news of the missing elder brother.
