Police in Kataka have detained two minor boys for allegedly raping a 16‑year‑old girl inside a hotel room in the Badambadi area.
The incident surfaced when the girl attempted to end her life by jumping into the Mahanadi River near Gadgadia Ghat. Rescued by locals and police, she disclosed the assault during questioning.
According to the complaint, the girl, a Plus II first‑year student, had befriended a 16‑year‑old boy from Bali Sahi while studying at the same college. Last month, he called her to a hotel in Badambadi, where his 17‑year‑old friend from Baunshagali was also present. Both boys allegedly raped her inside the room.
Police have registered a case at Badambadi Police Station and detained the accused. Further investigation is underway.
