Police have arrested three accused in connection with the murder of BJP leader Fakir Mohan Rana (47) of Phatamunda village under M. Rampur police station, Kalahandi district.
The case (No.198/2026) was registered under Sections 103(1)/3(5) BNS following the incident on August 5, 2026, when Rana was attacked with sharp weapons due to previous enmity and local disputes.
The arrested are:
- Mamataj Sahu @ Tulasiram (41), son of Anand Sahu, of Damkarlakhunta village.
- Sursingh Patra (35), son of Gantia Patra, of Gauda Karlakhunta village.
- Baladeb Sahu (28), son of Prasadi Sahu.
Police have recovered the murder weapon (knife), a Bajaj Platina motorcycle (Regd. No. OD03S‑1159) used in the crime, mobile phones, and other incriminating materials.
Investigators conducted spot visits, recorded witness statements, and collected forensic evidence before nabbing the accused. All three underwent medical examination and were produced before court today.
Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with M. Rampur police committed to a fair and lawful probe to ensure justice.
