South Cotabato, Sept 18: A horrific shooting at Banga National High School in the Philippines left six children dead and 17 others injured, including the suspected student gunman, officials confirmed Friday.
The incident marks the third fatal school shooting since June 2026, following deadly attacks in Tacloban and Zamboanga. Authorities said the gunman, believed to be part of a crime community, shot himself after the attack.
Governor Reynaldo Tamayo revealed that the suspect’s close friend had warned authorities about his links to criminal groups. The Education Department has suspended classes across Banga, launched an investigation, and is providing psychological and physical care to affected students and teachers.
