India’s sporting pride will shine at the Asian Games 2026 opening ceremony as Manu Bhaker and Tajinderpal Singh Toor have been named the country’s flag‑bearers, representing two of India’s most accomplished athletes from different disciplines.
Bhaker, a two‑time Olympic medallist, and Toor, a two‑time Asian Games gold medallist in shot put, will jointly carry the Indian flag during Saturday’s ceremony. The announcement was confirmed by Chef de Mission Sahdev Yadav and the Athletics Federation of India, marking a symbolic union of shooting precision and athletic power.
While the honour sets an upbeat tone for India’s campaign, the contingent has faced logistical challenges related to accommodation and transport. Yadav said additional hotel rooms and vehicles have been arranged to ensure athletes remain focused on competition.
Despite early hurdles, India’s delegation is now poised for a confident start, with Bhaker and Toor leading the march into Japan’s grand opening arena — a moment of pride for Indian sport.
