Mystery surrounds the death of an unidentified young man whose body was recovered from a roadside drain near Sai Temple in Jajpur’s Vyasanagar on Friday.
According to reports, residents first noticed the youth lying motionless inside the drain near the temple. They immediately alerted both the local fire services personnel and the police.
Upon receiving the information, a fire services team rushed to the scene, rescued the youth from the drain, and took him to the Jajpur Road Health Centre. However, attending doctors declared him dead.
Jajpur Road Police arrived at the hospital, seized the body, and subsequently sent it to the Danagadi Community Health Centre (CHC) for post-mortem examination. Police have registered an unnatural death case (No. 43/2026) in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed. Residents recalled seeing the youth wandering around the vicinity over the past few days.
To establish identity, Jajpur Road Police have circulated photographs of the deceased person across various police stations in the district.
