Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday, with the two leaders discussing developments in West Asia and ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination aimed at promoting peace, security and stability in the region.
The conversation comes amid continuing developments in West Asia, with regional security and stability remaining an important area of discussion between India and Gulf countries.
India-UAE Strategic Partnership
During the call, Modi and Sheikh Mohamed discussed measures to deepen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Their discussions covered several key sectors, including energy, defence, technology, investment and health, according to the official statement.
The two countries have maintained regular high-level engagement on bilateral and regional issues. Modi and Sheikh Mohamed had also met earlier in 2026, including during the G7 Summit in France in June.
UAE President Congratulates Modi On BRICS Presidency
Sheikh Mohamed also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on India’s successful BRICS Presidency.
Modi, in turn, appreciated the participation of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the BRICS Summit and the UAE’s cooperation during India’s chairship.
The latest conversation further highlighted the continued engagement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi on both bilateral cooperation and regional issues.
