Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi delivered the inaugural address at the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar, calling for a “Humanity First” approach to education and collaboration among BRICS nations.
Highlighting India’s BRICS 2026 Chairship theme — “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability” — Joshi underscored the transformative power of education in shaping the future. “Technology will change, economies will transform, new professions will emerge, and old ones will evolve. But at the centre of every education system must remain the human being,” he said, urging delegates to focus on learners, teachers, and researchers as the heart of global progress.
Joshi noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India continues to prioritise inclusive and innovative education. He welcomed delegates from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Iran, Ethiopia, and the UAE, thanking them for their participation and reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation under the BRICS Education Track.
He also invoked India’s ancient tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava” — treating guests as divine — and expressed gratitude to international representatives for their presence, saying their participation reflects the shared vision of advancing education and research across member nations.
The meeting focused on collaborative research, innovation, and skill development initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable educational partnerships among BRICS countries.
