Lucknow: Days after Pakistan’s historic win against India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Sedition (Law) will be invoked against those celebrating the victory of Pakistan.
Pakistan bested India in every department of the game in their T20 World Cup opener in Dubai on Sunday night.
Allegedly, many people in India also celebrated Pakistan’s victory. This didn’t sit well with the UP CM.
Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case in connection with the ‘celebration’ of the Pakistani cricket team’s victory over the Indian cricket team in the T20 World Cup on Sunday.
The accused have been booked under Sections 105 (A) and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Most often, the scars of sedition persist longer than the criminal cases. For the accused, it is a seemingly endless wait for bail, a desperate search for lawyers amid dwindling finances.
