A shocking incident unfolded in Bhadrak when a college student lured his friend away, assaulted him with a knife, and robbed him of valuables.

Rajiv Lochan Pani, a Plus Two student of Jhadeswar College in Balasore, went missing Monday evening after leaving home near Motel Chhak. His parents grew anxious when he failed to return by 9 p.m., and his phone remained switched off.

On Tuesday morning, locals discovered Rajiv unconscious and bleeding near the Nalanga canal, five kilometres from Bhadrak. He sustained severe injuries to his head, chest, back, stomach, and face, requiring more than sixty stitches. Doctors described his condition as critical and referred him to Cuttack for advanced treatment.

Rajiv later revealed that his friend Abhishek Nayak, a student of Asurali Best Engineering College, had taken him on his bike. Near the Nalanga canal, Abhishek suddenly attacked him with a knife, ignoring Rajiv’s pleas for mercy. He snatched Rajiv’s gold bracelet, mobile phone, and cash before fleeing, leaving him bleeding by the roadside.

Police registered a case at Bhadrak Rural Station and launched a search for Abhishek. The incident has shocked residents, highlighting the betrayal of trust between friends.
