A devastating forest fire broke out at Bhavani Hill under the Koida range in Sundargarh district on Thursday morning, destroying valuable trees and threatening wildlife habitats.
According to reports, miscreants allegedly set the forest ablaze, triggering a massive fire that quickly spread across Bhavani Hill, located just two kilometres from Koida range. Within hours, flames engulfed the entire hill, leaving thick smoke that covered nearby villages.
The fire has already destroyed large sections of forest, including valuable trees. Wildlife in the area has also been severely affected, with animals and birds forced to flee their habitats. Residents reported heavy smoke and reduced visibility in surrounding villages.
Koida forest officials rushed to the spot with fire control teams. Despite continuous efforts, the intensity of the blaze made containment extremely difficult. Officials confirmed that teams are working around the clock to bring the situation under control.
