A terrifying hit-and-run incident unfolded at Infocity Square (Infocity Chhak) when a speeding minitruck rammed into multiple vehicles, leaving a trail of wreckage and five people injured.
According to reports, the minitruck, travelling at high speed, first struck a young woman riding a scooter. After the impact, the truck dragged her for nearly 500 metres before ploughing into other vehicles. Two auto-rickshaws, a trolley and two-wheelers were among those crushed as the truck mounted seven vehicles in total. Several vehicles remained trapped underneath the truck.
Eyewitnesses at the scene quickly intervened. Locals overpowered the driver and handed him over to police. People present alleged that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Five persons were injured in the accident. Two of them were reported to be in serious condition and were shifted to hospital for further treatment. Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over reckless driving and road safety in the state capital, particularly at busy junctions like Infocity Square. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
