President Droupadi Murmu witnessed the International Fleet Review at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on February 18, 2026. Navies from more than 70 countries participated in the grand maritime event.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said the International Fleet Review reflects unity, trust, and respect among nations for maritime traditions. She emphasised that ships flying different flags and sailors from diverse countries embody the spirit of togetherness. The theme “United Through Oceans” captured this spirit and sent a positive message to the global community.
She highlighted India’s ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family—stating that global security, growth, and stability depend on partnerships. She explained that India believes a sound maritime order rests on collective responsibility and cooperative action among like-minded partners. The Fleet Review also advanced India’s vision of MAHASAGAR—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
President Murmu praised the Indian Navy for safeguarding maritime interests and contributing to regional stability. She noted that the Navy acts as a credible deterrent against threats and serves as the first responder during humanitarian crises and natural disasters. She added that the Navy builds goodwill and trust with navies worldwide.
She appreciated officers and sailors from foreign navies, acknowledging their discipline and dedication as the foundation of collective maritime security. She expressed confidence that the presence of global navies in the Fleet Review strengthens bonds of trust and reaffirms shared commitment to peace, stability, and cooperation at sea.
