A violent domestic quarrel in Malipur village under Pattamundai police station limits left both husband and wife critically injured.
Reports revealed that the husband attacked his wife multiple times with a sharp knife during a heated argument. Neighbours rushed in after hearing cries and found the woman bleeding heavily inside the house. She was immediately shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack for treatment.
Soon after the assault, the husband consumed poison near a canal in the village. Locals discovered him in a semi-conscious state with a poison bottle and a blood-stained knife beside him. He was also rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Police reached the spot and began an investigation. Officers collected evidence and confirmed that both remain in serious condition. The exact cause of the quarrel is yet to be established, though preliminary inquiry suggests long-standing family disputes.
