Anganwadi Uniform Price Hike

The Odisha government announced an increase in the official cost of uniforms and shoes for children enrolled in Anganwadi centres under the Malati Devi Pre-School Scheme.

The decision aims to improve the quality of clothing and footwear provided to over 14.76 lakh pre-school children across the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida stated that the government will bear the additional expenditure. The revised rates will take effect from the 2026-27 financial year.

According to the new structure, the cost of boys’ uniforms has risen from Rs 100 to Rs 175, while girls’ uniforms increased from Rs 150 to Rs 225. Similarly, the price allocation for shoes has gone up from Rs 100 to Rs 150. Officials explained that the hike considers rising fabric costs, tailoring charges, and transportation expenses, ensuring durability and better standards for children’s attire.

The scheme, implemented under ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), plays a crucial role in strengthening early childhood care and education in rural Odisha. Authorities emphasised that the revision will not only enhance the quality of uniforms but also reinforce the government’s commitment to child welfare.
