The Accountant General (AG) Office Eastern Zone in Bhubaneswar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti alongside the closing ceremony of Swachhata Pakhwada at the AG New Colony.
Presided over by Principal Accountant General Subu R., the event featured Deputy CAG Pramod Kumar as the chief guest, with Accountant General Atul Prakash and Senior Deputy Accountant General Bharat Chandra Behera attending as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Pramod Kumar paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and urged employees to draw inspiration from his ideals. He emphasised that Gandhiji envisioned cleanliness as a mass movement that must begin at home to influence families and future generations.
Other dignitaries also stressed the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and actively planting and nurturing trees for a healthy environment.
Following the formal sessions, a collective cleanliness drive and tree plantation program were organised within the AG Colony.
Senior officials—including Deputy Accountants General Sanjay Kumar, Bibhanshu Shekhar Nayak, Banoth Rakesh Naik, Swami Shubham Vaijanath, and Raj Kishore Mahapatra, along with Welfare Officer Nrusingha Chandra Rout, senior audit officers, colony committee members, and hundreds of employees—actively participated in clearing debris and planting saplings to promote ecological sustainability.
