Two bike riders died late Sunday night after their vehicle collided with an electric pole near Limamunda village under Gunupur police station in Rayagada district.
Authorities identified the deceased as Muna Kimwaka (24) and Krishna Kimwaka (14), both residents of Nilaguda village under Gudari police station limits. The two relatives had visited Gunupur for work, and later, while returning home, their bike struck the pole near Limamunda.
Immediately after the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the injured duo. They quickly transported them to the Gunupur Sub-Divisional Hospital. However, doctors declared both riders dead upon arrival.
Soon after receiving information, Gunupur police reached the hospital and seized the bodies. Later, officers conducted an autopsy and handed the remains over to the family. Moreover, Investigating Officer Banamali Nayak confirmed that the police registered a case and initiated further inquiry into the incident.
