The Excise Department seized contraband worth Rs 1.43 crore on the twelfth day of its ongoing Special Enforcement Drive, which began on December 20.
Officials registered 280 cases during the operations and arrested 35 persons, including three under the NDPS Act.
Furthermore, enforcement teams seized four vehicles linked to violations. The crackdown yielded 15,879 bulk litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 758 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor.
Moreover, officers recovered 1,40,050 bulk litres of fermented wash, 26,600 kg of gur wash, and 8 kg of bhang. Narcotics seizures included 63 kg of ganja, underscoring the scale of illegal activity targeted during the drive.
The department emphasised that the Special Enforcement Drive aims to curb illicit liquor production, prevent narcotics trafficking, and strengthen compliance with excise laws. Officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations in the coming days to ensure public safety and protect revenue.
Finally, the Day 12 results highlight the effectiveness of coordinated enforcement efforts and reaffirm the government’s determination to combat contraband across Odisha.
