Kantamal police in Boudh swiftly solved the murder of Kaibalya Pradhan and arrested four accused within 24 hours of the crime.
The incident unfolded on December 7 when villagers discovered Pradhan’s mutilated body lying on the Jogindrapur–Damamunda road. Soon after, his family identified him as a resident of Damamunda village.
Immediately, police rushed to the spot with sniffer dogs and a scientific team to begin the investigation. Consequently, officers tracked down the suspects within hours and seized the weapons used in the killing along with a bike, clothing, and mobile phones.
The arrested men include Umesh Salma (24) of Damamunda, Ajit Bag (21) of Kalasulia, Radhakant Bhoi (24) of Damamunda, and Ramakant Salma of Damamunda. During interrogation, all four admitted to attacking Pradhan with stones, and they cited previous enmity as the motive.
Furthermore, officials revealed that the accused attempted to destroy evidence. However, police recovered crucial items within 12 hours. Later, investigators conducted a scene recreation in the presence of Boudh SDPO Loren Raut Ray and Kantamal police station officer Sasmita Magar.
Finally, Boudh SP Rahul Goyal confirmed in a press briefing that the accused have been produced in court.
