Odisha continues to make India proud on the global para sports stage as its athletes clinched two gold medals and one bronze at the Australia Para Badminton International Level 2 Tournament 2025, held in Bendigo, Australia, from October 21 to 25, 2025.

Showcasing exceptional skill, determination, and resilience, Odisha’s para shuttlers displayed world-class performances, bringing glory to both the state and the nation.

Pramod Bhagat Clinches Double Gold

Veteran para badminton champion Pramod Bhagat once again proved his dominance in international badminton, securing two gold medals — one in Men’s Singles (SL3) and another in Men’s Doubles (SL3–SU4) alongside partner Sukant Kadam.

🥇 Men’s Singles SL3 – Gold Medal

Pramod Bhagat defeated fellow Indian Jagadesh Dilli in a hard-fought semifinal (16–21, 21–19, 21–14). In the final, he showcased his trademark composure to overcome Manoj Sarkar with a commanding 21–14, 21–17 victory, securing the gold medal.

🥇 Men’s Doubles SL3–SU4 – Gold Medal

Partnering with Sukant Kadam, Bhagat continued his winning streak in doubles. The duo entered the finals after defeating compatriots Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Manoj Sarkar (21–19, 21–16). In the gold medal clash, they triumphed over Suryakant Yadav and Umesh Vikram Kumar in a thrilling three-set match (21–9, 19–21, 21–18).

Deep Ranjan Bisoyee Wins Bronze in Men’s Doubles

Odisha’s Deep Ranjan Bisoyee showcased grit and skill to secure a bronze medal in Men’s Doubles (SL3–SL4). Partnering with Manoj Sarkar, the duo reached the semifinals before losing to Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam (19–21, 16–21). Their consistent performance throughout the tournament earned them a well-deserved place on the podium.

Athletes Express Gratitude for Odisha’s Support

The medal winners credited their success to the Government of Odisha, the Department of Sports and Youth Services, and the Para Sports Association of Odisha (PSAO) for providing continuous encouragement, world-class training facilities, and institutional backing.

They expressed heartfelt gratitude to their coaches, support staff, and families for their unwavering belief and guidance that made this international achievement possible.
