In a sweeping administrative overhaul aimed at strengthening law enforcement, vigilance, and district-level policing, the Odisha Home Department today issued multiple notifications transferring and posting as many as 58 senior police officers, including DSPs and Additional Superintendents of Police (OPS cadre).
Key Highlights:
- Pratap Chandra Tripathy, OPS, DSP, CAW & CW, Bhubaneswar, has been moved as SDPO, Ghatagaon, Keonjhar — a strategically important tribal-dominated area.
- A batch of 12 OPS (SB) officers received fresh assignments, with several moving to high-profile desks: Vigilance, State Police Headquarters, HRPC Cuttack, Police Commissionerate Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, and range offices in Berhampur and Koraput.
- In the largest segment, 45 officers continuing as Addl. SPs in situ have now been formally posted as full Additional Superintendents of Police across districts, police training institutions, Special Branch, Intelligence, Crime Branch, Lokayukta, SOG, and sensitive units like CAW & CW.
Notable movements include multiple officers to Vigilance, Special Branch, Intelligence, Police Commissionerate, and district SP offices in Keonjhar, Ganjam, Balasore, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, and Rairangpur. Several women officers have also received significant postings, reflecting continued gender mainstreaming in leadership roles.
The reshuffle is expected to inject fresh energy into district policing, anti-corruption drives, and intelligence gathering ahead of upcoming administrative and law-and-order challenges. All officers have been asked to assume their new charges at the earliest, with the DGP’s office monitoring compliance.
