As many as five persons were injured in a hit-and-run accident in the Kesora area of Bhubaneswar on Monday afternoon. The injured persons have been reportedly admitted to the hospital.
The incident occurred at around 2:10 PM when a speeding car hit multiple two-wheelers injuring five persons near the Jagannath Temple in Koradakanta under Badagada police station limits.
Sources said the car driver was on the wrong side of the road when it hit two 2-wheelers near the Jagannath Temple and also hit some persons at the roadside shop.
According to eyewitnesses, locals pursued the car and stopped it midway. Three occupants, including the driver, were apprehended and handed over to the Badagada Police. The driver was inebriated, they said.
As per the latest reports, police have started an investigation into the accident by first seizing the vehicle involved in the accident and verifying the CCTV footage.
