Nuapada: The Koraput Police raided an interstate gambling den near Thelkobeda village under Jonk police limits in Nuapada district and arrested 80 persons.
Based on intelligence, the Koraput police with the help of the Chhattisgarh CRPF jawans at the gambling den and arrested the gamblers. Also, the police seized Rs over 50 lakhs from their possession.
For the past few months, gamblers from Nuapada district and Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh were gambling in the forest near Thelkobeda village. The residents of the area had complained to the district police several times about this. But the police did not crack down on the gambling den. Finally, the people of the area had lost faith in the Nuapada police. The residents of the area complained to the state police officer about this. Based on this complaint, the state police deployed detectives to collect more information and conducted an investigation. On the instructions of the South-West DIG, a special police team was formed and a blueprint was prepared to raid the inter-state gambling den and arrest the gamblers.

Last evening, the Koraput police team with the help of the CRPF jawans of the Chhattisgarh, raided the forest near Thelkobeda village. First, the CRPF jawans surrounded the forest and arrested the gamblers in a house. Later, the Koraput police reached the spot and arrested about 80 gamblers. The police seized about Rs 50 lakh in cash, more than 25 expensive cars and playing cards from there.
In this regard, Koraput police later informed Nuapada police. Nuapada SP G.R. Raghavendra reached the spot at night and started investigation. Now it is reported that all the gamblers are being questioned about the gambling den. On the other hand, it is reported that the gamblers are from Nuapada and Bargarh districts, as well as Mahasamund and Raipur areas of Chhattisgarh. Now the seized money has been kept at the Jonk Police station. However, the police have informed that the exact details will be available after counting the money.
When asked about this, SP Shri Raghavendra said that a special team of Koraput police along with the Nuapada police team raided the gambling den and arrested 80 gamblers. He said that the exact details will be available after counting the seized money and further investigation is underway.
