Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of the Odisha Police, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced a comprehensive modernisation plan during the Collectors-SPs conference held in Bhubaneswar today. The Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to transforming the Odisha Police into one of the best units in the country.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the conference, CM Majhi outlined a detailed roadmap for the modernisation initiative. Key components of the plan include the recruitment of 1,043 personnel for a special battalion dedicated to the Puri Temple and the smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra. Additionally, 2,098 home guards will be recruited to bolster the police force.
The state government is also focused on improving infrastructure to ensure police officials can effectively respond to emergencies. This includes the provision of 9,000 motorcycles and additional four-wheelers for each police station. Furthermore, ten new police outposts will be established in medical colleges, and ten more Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) units will be set up, ensuring one unit per district.
CM Majhi highlighted the importance of these measures in enhancing the operational efficiency of the Odisha Police. “Our goal is to equip our police force with the necessary tools and infrastructure to maintain law and order effectively and respond swiftly to any situation,” he stated.
