Paris: The Indian mixed archery team, comprising Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat, triumphed over Arif Pangestu and Diananda Choirunisa of Indonesia with a score of 5-1 at the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris.
In the pre-quarterfinals, the Indian duo proved too formidable for the Indonesians, securing a spot in the top eight of the archery event.
In the opening set, Bhakat delivered two 9s, complemented by Bommadevara’s 10 and 9. In contrast, Pangestu managed a 10 and 9, but Choirunisa’s 9 and 8 handed the first set to the Indian team with a score of 37-36.
The second set saw a tighter competition, with all participants from both teams scoring a 10 and 9, resulting in a 38-38 draw. This outcome set the stage for a decisive third set for the Indonesian pair.
In the final set, Ankita Bhakat excelled, hitting two straight 10s, while Bommadevara contributed with two 9s. On the opposing side, Choirunisa scored a 9 and 10, and Pangestu added two 9s, which ultimately fell short, as they conceded the third set and the match with a score of 38-37 to the Indian archers.
