Manchester United continued its winning ways in the Premier League Summer Series pre-season tournament with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Bournemouth at a rain-soaked Soldier Field.
The Red Devils, under manager Ruben Amorim, showed dominance from the outset as Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring in the 8th minute, heading in a well-curved cross from Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu doubled the lead in the 25th minute, latching onto a smart free-kick from Mason Mount and slipping a low shot under Bournemouth’s Djordje Petrovic. Amad Diallo added United’s third early in the second half before teenage substitute Ethan Williams sealed the scoring with a precise effort just two minutes after coming on. The only blemish was a late own goal by Matthijs de Ligt.
In another fixture at the same venue, West Ham mounted a comeback to edge Everton 2-1. After conceding to Idrissa Gueye in the 17th minute, the Hammers equalised through Lucas Paqueta and took the lead through Niclas Fullkrug in the 64th. The result was a further blow for Everton, which also lost 0-3 to Bournemouth earlier in the tournament.
The Summer Series concludes in Atlanta, where United will meet Everton, and West Ham faces Bournemouth in their final pre-season matchups.
