Liverpool FC has officially signed French forward Hugo Ekitike from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in a major summer acquisition, reportedly worth £69 million plus add-ons.
The 23-year-old striker becomes the second-most expensive signing for the Reds this season, following the arrival of German midfielder Florian Wirtz for a club-record fee.
Ekitike completed his medical and finalised personal terms earlier this week, allowing him to link up with his new teammates during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Hong Kong. Known for his speed, composure, and precise finishing, Ekitike made headlines during the 2024–25 season, scoring 15 league goals and netting four times in Frankfurt’s Europa League run.
The former Paris Saint-Germain prospect launched his senior career at Stade de Reims and enjoyed a brief stint in Ligue 1 before moving to Germany. His steady rise through European football has earned him recognition as one of the most promising forwards in his age group.
Eintracht Frankfurt Sporting Director Markus Kroesche praised Ekitike’s development, stating, “Hugo has earned this move, and it shows that we are capable of offering players a great prospect.”
Liverpool will kick off its Premier League title defence at home against Bournemouth on August 15, with Ekitike expected to play a vital role in the club’s attacking ambitions.
