The 73rd State Police Athletic Championship – 2025 was inaugurated today at the Reserve Police Ground, Buxibazar, Cuttack.
The event was officially opened by Shri R. P. Koche, IPS, Director of Intelligence.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Koche highlighted the role of sports in fostering camaraderie, self-confidence, discipline, and dedication among police personnel. He also expressed that the championship, which sees participation from state, district, and range levels, would promote harmony among the players. Shri Koche thanked the State Director General of Security, Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, for organizing the championship.

A total of 797 athletes from 41 police teams across different ranges and battalions in the state are competing in the event. The participants include 665 men and 132 women. The competition will continue until February 25.
Distinguished guests at the inauguration included DIAG (Central) Shri Charan Singh Meena, DCP Cuttack Shri Jagmohan Meena, and 6th Battalion Commandant Shri Suryanarayan Mallick. Also in attendance were IG (Personnel) Shri S. Praveen Kumar, AIG (Headquarters) Shri Suresh Kumar Naik, and several senior police officers.
