Robbers looted valuables from a house in the Belapada area of Balugaon in Khurda district and set the property ablaze.

The incident occurred in the house of Abinash Sethy while the family was away at a relative’s house for dinner.

The robbers broke into the house by damaging the grill and proceeded to vandalize the bedroom, breaking the almirah and stealing gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees along with Rs 50,000 in cash. Following the theft, they set the house on fire before fleeing the scene.

Manasi Sethy, a family member, expressed her distress, stating, “The robbers took away all cash and jewellery and destroyed everything they couldn’t steal. They broke the television and set the house on fire. There is nothing left.”

The family has lodged a complaint at the Naval outpost, and the police have started an investigation into the incident.
