Bolangir: Police today cracked the mystery surrounding the death of Rinku Meher, whose mutilated body was found in a locked house in Salepali area of Bolangir district recently.
According to police sources, the deceased Rinku Meher’s younger brother Shankar Bhabani Meher has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder.
On Saturday, Bolangir police arrested Shankar Bhabani and carried out crime scene recreation at the house where the murder took place in Salepali. Shankar Bhabani narrated in detail how he had killed his elder brother, severed his body into eight parts and stashed it in a sack.
Police said the accused confessed that he was fed up with the cruel actions of his elder brother as the latter used to create disturbances in the family every time. Rinku had assaulted his father Markanda Meher with a  hammer a few days ago following which he is still under treatment at VIMSAR medical college and hospital in Burla.
Today, the arrested accused Shankar Bhabani was forwarded to the court, the police added.
On the 17th of May, people notices foul smell emanating from a closed room in Salepali within Model police station limits in Bolangir. Later, police broke open the lock in the presence of a magistrate and seized the severed body of Rinku.
Under the direction of SP Nitin Kusalkar, Bolangir Sadar SDPO Toofan Bag, IIC Biswajit Manbodh started an investigation with a scientific team. During the probe, the deceased’s younger brother was found to be the murderer.
