Kolkata: The West Bengal government has recently announced its decision to upgrade the security cover for former Indian cricket team captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly to the esteemed Z category, according to a senior official. This development comes following the conclusion of Ganguly’s previous security arrangement under the Y category.
The official stated that, once the security cover for the VVIP had expired, a comprehensive evaluation was carried out in accordance with established procedures. This assessment ultimately resulted in the determination to enhance the former India skipper’s security arrangement to the esteemed Z category.
On May 16, representatives from the state secretariat convened a meeting at Ganguly’s Behala office, engaging with officers from Kolkata Police headquarters Lalbazar as well as the local police station, to discuss the security protocol, the official added.
